I have been a fan of Spanish music for a while now and I’ve listened to a lot of different genres in the past. One of my favorite genres is reggaeton. Reggaeton originated in Puerto Rico and it has spread throughout Latin America. For the most part, the genre is permissive with lyrics being able to be romantic or lewd at will with little to no consequence from society that doesn’t understand what they are listening to. In addition, it can also include afro-Caribbean roots which I love listening out for when I listen from artists from Puerto Rico. Reggaeton is the first music genre I started to listen to when I was a teenager and it sparked a love for Spanish music that has stuck with me ever since. One of the most recent albums I’ve listened to from the genre is Bajar Mi Novio Atomico Audio Latino. This album by Alexis & Fido tells the story of a young man who meets an alien and falls in love with her. He is so in love with her that he wants to marry her and take her home to meet his family. The only problem is that they live on separate planets and the man doesn’t want to keep his new girlfriend a secret from everyone. The album is very well-written and the music is very catchy and consistent throughout. It has a variety of musical styles, mixing reggaeton with merengue, soca, and electronic music. It was released April 2018 by Sony Music Latin and was recorded at Mambo Studio & Sentir Music Studios in Dominican Republic. The album mixes the genres of reggaeton and merengue. The album starts out with a trap beat and electric guitars playing softly in the background. The song is called “Vas A Gustarme” and it starts out with a man talking about having arrived on earth and looking for a girl that he will love. He mentions that he’s looking to settle down and that he wants to be with her forever. He promises her that if she lets him take her away from the planet she lives on, he will take care of her for as long as they live. The following song on the album is called “Sigo Confundido” which translates to “I’m still confused.” This song has a really interesting beat and I love how it starts quietly with the singer talking about how she feels in love with him but doesn’t know if he feels the same way. He confuses her by telling her that he loves her and then telling her that he is confused that they can be together when they live in different planets. The song has a lot of energy and is a lot of fun to listen to, which makes sense considering it was released as one of the singles from the album. cfa1e77820
